Do i need a speedometer in a motorcycle to pass nrew york state inspection?

i am making a bobber out of my bike this winter and want to change the handle bars. i was thinking of getting rid of the speedometer/odometer to make a clean look. i just need to know if i will be able to get it inspected without one. i think they write the mileage on the inspection sticker.
